History

Dated 1849. Designed by Thomas Penson, County Surveyor and built by Edward Jones "formerly of Dolgellau". Replaced a former timber bridge.

Exterior

Single segmental arch twin-track bridge of heavily tooled coursed rubble. Keystone rises to band course below modern concrete parapet with metal handrail. Inset tablet to downstream side. The rubble old parapet walls retained at W end, curving outwards and on the S side continuing along Penygreen Road as far as Nos 1 to 5. At the E end the modern parapets adjoin the neighbouring buildings.
