Exterior

Combination barn: forms southern side of foldyard. C18, rubble stone on plinth, gable ends raised, iron roof. Four bays with large opposing openings to threshing bay. The two bays sited down the slope have cattle sheds below the storage loft above with slit ventilators, three plank doors, modern window under timber lintel. Pitching opening and slit ventilators to west gable end.

Modern brick partition to right interior of threshing bay; other bay partitions formed by studs and planks over low stone walls. Roof trusses with tie beam and two diagonal braces, all pegged joints, the purlins chamfered and stopped.

Cowsheds: on north side of the foldyard. C19, rubble stone with brick dressings, slate roof, two storeys, three plank doors and three windows under cambered heads, the lower half of the windows with vertical timber slats; plank pitching door to left of centre, slit ventilators to right of centre; brick and concrete steps to loft door on left gable end.

Rear feeding passage to right hand bays, loose box to left bay, brick managers, bolted king-post roof trusses.

Pigstys: on north side of foldyard. C19, rubble stone with brick dressings and brick front, slate roof, two storeys; door to loft reached by adjoining cowhouse loft steps. Cambered heads to sty doorways, part brick, part stone walls to courts, brick floors.

Reasons for Listing

Group value with farmhouse. Attractive and well preserved example of compact farm steading.
