History

House, c.1820-40, said to have been built as a dower house for Trawscoed

Exterior

Colourwashed brick, slate hung on the W gable end, with double spanned hipped slate roof. Three storeys, 3 bays, double pile plan with a central stair hall and service rooms to the rear.

Centre bay slightly broken forward and gabled, containing a 6-panelled door in a slender tall gothic-panelled doorcase with radial fanlight and flat canopy. Ground and first floors have Venetian windows, 15-pane, with shutters to the ground floor, and 12-paned to the first floor. Round headed windows to the 2nd floor, all windows having rendered lintels and arches. Brick cogged and dentilled eaves. West gable randon slated. Rear elevation is of stone rubble, also colourwashed. Window openings have segmental arches, and an added small glazed porch. Single storey slated rubble stone extension to the left links to Calcott House.

Interior

Through hall with panelled doors to reception rooms either side. Stair to rear.

Listed as a well-preserved and distinctive early C19 house, of group value within the centre of Guilsfield.
