History

Early Nineteenth century, with extensions of later C19 and C20.

Exterior

Slate roof, red brick chimneys, local grey stone, hammer dressed to front, rubble to sides. Extensions in brick.

Three storeys, five bay front. Central and end bays slightly advanced. Basic L-shaped plan with long arm on line of street, and short arm to rear at right (W). Parallel connected range at rear (E). Modern flat roofed block (3 storey) fills former space between wings.

Hipped roof with widely overhanging boarded eaves. All windows small pane hornless sashes set under voussoir lintels. At 2nd floor, central window is simple 9 pane, others broad tripartite sashes. At 1st floor, central window simple 12 pane sash, others broad tripartite sashes. Ground floor windows larger versions of 1st floor. Central doorway, round headed with white painted surround and jambs. Two stone steps lead up to deeply set double door under semi-circular fanlight. Over door, canopy incorporates cast iron railings of c.1900 but in present form is mid/later C20. At ground level, shallow plinth with low vents to cellar.
To right (W), lower 3 storey wing under low pitched roof with overhanging eaves boarded as main block. Fenestration somewhat altered but some horned sash windows under cambered arched heads. At rear, tall projecting chimney is in stone, as is central chimney in this range.
Late C19 parallel range to S and E has gable facing E. Upper floors have large pane sash windows with surrounds in blue brick and stone sills. On ground floor, large three light windows with stained glass lighting function room.
Between rear wing and parallel range modern three storey flat-roofed extension. Low red brick kitchen extension.
