History

Mid C19. Converted to hotel accommodation 1963.

Exterior

Formerly livery and bait stables, now incorporated into hotel accommodation, attached at one side. Built of stone, roughly squared and coursed to front, painted rubble to sides; end unit to left is rendered and painted. Half-hipped slate roof. Two storeys. Five window range to main section, three to the centre bay which projects slightly. Small-pane casements, tripartite to sides, with cambered-arched heads to centre. Former stable and carriage entrances to ground floor have been blocked and filled with C20 casement windows. End unit at left side has a segmental arched former carriage entrance with keystone and stone steps up on north end wall.

Interior

Converted to living accommodation.

Reasons for Listing

Rare surviving example of this building type with its associations with fishing on the Usk, and retaining overall form. Group Value with adjacent listed buildings.
