GV II

4 estate houses. Early C19 central section with later C19
outer additions. For the Sutton estate. Red brick, with blue
brick dressings to later sections. Welsh slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window central section to Nos.20 and
21, outer sections with projecting gabled wings flanked by
entrance porches in angles. Central section: entrances have
shallow brick porches with segmental arches beneath flagstone
hood; board door to right to No.20, C20 door to left to No.21.
16-pane casement and C20 window to ground floor, 12-pane
casements to first floor, in chamfered reveals with chamfered
brick sills. Gabled sections each have chamfered plinth, flush
blue brick bands at first-floor sill and window-head level,
wooden ground-floor canted bay window with mullions, transoms
and glazing bars, beneath entablature and hipped roof.
First-floor cross-window with sill beneath cambered arch.
Single-storey hipped-roofed porches in outer angles. Porch to
No.22 has wooden open section with moulded column and pierced
brackets carrying a dogtooth cornice; inner enclosed brick
section with board door beneath cambered brick arch, and side
window with coloured glass.
No.19 has similar enclosed brick porch. Stepped and dentilled
brick eaves cornices; plain barge-boards. Central section has
large original central stack flanked by later roof stacks;
stacks to rear.
