Water steps. 1908, by T H Mawson of Windermere for John Lancaster. Ashlar masonry. Renaissance Revival style. On the SE side of an oval pond, 2 shallow flights of steps, the projecting lower flight semi-circular. On each side, a square bay enclosed on 3 sides by a pierced balustrade with square corner pedestals topped with 8 obelisks on moulded bases.
An important element in this well-preserved Edwardian landscape.
