5/18 Richard Marsden chest tomb about
10 metres north of the tower of
the Church of St Michael and
All Angels
GV II

Chest tomb. Late C19. Freestone. A coped Gothic style chest tomb, the chest
decorated with a carved frieze, the coped lid with a roll moulding terminating in
floriated crosses. The inscription commemorates Richard Marsden, date of death
partly illegible but appears to be 1860s.
A nice example of an archaeological chest tomb in the Gothic style.
