2 shops with accommodation above. c1870s on older site.
Stuccoed front, except where rendered to No.18; slurried
scantle slate hipped roof; brick stack on left. Double-depth
plan. 3 storeys over basement; 4-window range. Late C19 horned
sashes: those to 2nd floor with segmental heads; canted oriel
to 1st-floor left and right with pilasters and moulded
entablature with cornice brackets. No.16 (left) has original
stucco keyed architraves and moulded 2nd-floor sill string.
Ground floor has 2 late C19 double shop fronts with splayed
central doorways with sidelights; surviving end and angle
mullions with arched heads; central pair of house doorways
with original 4-panel doors and overlights; end pilasters and
flanking doorways, all with consoles and moulded entablature
with bracketed cornices. Good rear elevation with many
original windows including round-arched stair windows with
coloured margin panes. INTERIOR: not inspected except to note
that shops have plain interiors. Included for group value.
