House, now builder's store. Mid-C16 with early- to mid-C19 additions.
Roughcast timber frame with coursed limestone rubble plinth, and painted
brick refacing to east, C19 slate and graded stone slate roof. 5
framed bays with additions to east and west, at right-angles to road.
2 storeys. Brick stack off-ridge to north. Gable-end to road with first
floor 16-pane glazing bar sash and ground floor mid- to late-C20 shop
front with plate glass window. North front: 3 first floor mid- to
late-C19 casements; half-glazed door off-centre to left. Interior:
former timber framed gable-end in roof with king post and decorative
herringbone framing; 2 possible raised cruck trusses (Alcock apex
type F2), others queen strut or inclined-strut trusses with windbraces
and through purlins; some smoke-blackening. Re-ordered C17 panelling on
first floor with lozenge decoration; ground floor late-C18 fireplace
surround with moulded cornice. Alcock, p.96.
