Manorial farmhouse. Late C16 - early C17, altered. Rubble limestone, pantile
roof. T-shaped plan. 2 storeys with former attics, west front 1:5 windows
to 1st floor. Gabled cross-wing on left has chamfered plinth, large quoins and
4-light double-chamfered mullioned window with dripstone beneath similar 3-
light window; blocked ovolo-moulded 2-light attic window with dripstone; roll-
moulded gable copings; original 3-light 1st-floor opening to right return.
Wing on right: original-sized 3-light mullioned window to left of inserted door
with enlarged 3-light mullioned window to its right having hoodmould. 1st floor:
casement with glazing bars against cross-wing, otherwise C20 mullioned windows
of 2, 3, 1 and 3 lights with hoodmoulds. Ashlar gable copings to right with
late C18 gadrooned finials. C20 stone ridge stack to cross-wing and to main
ridge. Rear: cross-wing: attic window as front, 3-light 1st-floor opening to
left return. Left return facing roadside: quoined, gabled bay to left of centre
indicates 2 builds. Mullioned windows enlarged with concrete surrounds, traces
of 2 original ground-floor openings and blocked 2-light attic window with dripstone,
roll-moulded gable copings. Originally the manorial home of the Cressy family
until purchased by William West of Moorgate Hall, Rotherham in the late C16.
