House. C17 and C18. Timber-framed and rendered; plaintiled
roofs with a heavy wood modillion cornice to the main facade.
L-shaped form, with a long rear range.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics; 5 window range: all 12-pane
sashes in flush cased frames. A plaque below the central upper
window commemorates the occupation of Henry Crabb Robinson
(1775-1867). The slightly recessed central 8-panelled entrance
door has the top 2 panels glazed. Moulded architrave with a
flat cornice hood supported on console brackets.
An external chimney-stack in Tudor brick with a plain shaft on
the north gable wall. Also on the north gable wall a small
2-storey extension with a hipped roof; French windows to the
ground storey. The long 2-storey rear wing has single-storey
lean-to additions along its north side. Some small-paned sash
windows and some small-paned 2-light casements. A large
internal chimney-stack.
