GV II

House, forming part of terraced row. Probably c1840; enlarged
and altered. Painted stucco, slate roof. Double-depth plan,
with large back wing.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys (raised from 2 storeys), 3 windows; with a
plinth, giant Doric pilasters to 2 storeys, string course,
sill-bands to 1st and 2nd floors, and moulded gutter cornice.
The ground floor has tall sashed windows without glazing bars
flanking a similar opening which may formerly have been a
window but now has a half-glazed door in the lower portion;
the 1st floor has sashed windows without glazing bars; and the
added top floor has 2 oblong 4-light casements. The right-hand
return (to Wellington Street) has a segmental-headed doorway
with foliated consoles and moulded head, one sashed window
without glazing bars on each floor above this and a similar
window at ground floor near the front corner; the wing
continued to the rear has (inter alia) tripartite windows at
ground and 1st floors to the right of the doorway and 3 sashes
at 2nd floor above these, 2 windows on each main floor further
to the rear, and 3 at 2nd floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
All the listed buildings in Adelaide Terrace, together with
those in Bath Street, Beach Lawn, Marine Crescent and Marine
Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of
Crosby.
