Includes: No.2 BUTT LANE.
Pair of shops. Part late C16, part early C19. No.111 is
timber-framed and rendered and No.113 of brick and both now
with continuous parapeted, early C19 painted brick front;
No.111 has plain tile roof, at right-angles to High Street,
and hipped to the front and No.113 with similar roof of Welsh
slate.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2x2-window range. No.111 has C20 casement
window with asymmetrical lights on 1st floor and C20 shop
front of 4 arched lights and central door, set in area of red
brick and with painted fascia over. The corner to Butt Lane is
curved with corbelling over. No.113 has a 12-pane sash window
on 1st floor with timber-frame and consoled hood; ground floor
has timber architrave to tripartite sash window with timber
key; entrance has doorcase with roundel decoration over fluted
pilasters and flat hood, the door with 2 glazed over 4 moulded
panels.
The long flank to Butt Lane has one truncated and one large
ridgeline stack and a course on angled bricks below eaves. The
1st floor has two 16-pane sash windows, a 12-pane sash and a
small and large 2-light window. The ground floor has a 16-pane
sash with segmental head, a door opening and 2 small fixed
windows.
INTERIOR: No.111 has chamfered tie beams over 1st floor.
Despite alterations to No.111, this remains as a significant
structure with early origins.
Nos 111A & 113 High Street and No.2 Butts Lane are included in
the list for the first time.
