2 bridges with linked parapet walls and river walls. Probably late C18.
Ashlar, river walls of large blocks of squared gritstone. North bridge over
River Skell: single segmental arch, band at road level, parapet rising in
centre with chamfered coping. The south parapet wall continues to west and
south and becomes the east wall to the smaller west bridge. West bridge
over Hungate Dike: single round arch, band and coped parapet as north
bridge. River walls at the confluence: flank the river for approximately 20
metres downstream. Some of the blocks with large masons marks (including
inverted A). The river forms the boundary between Sawley and Grantley
parishes. The north bridge straddles the boundary with Grantley parish.
