Pump house. 1918. English bond brick with artificial stone dressings and flat roof. One storey. Edwardian Baroque style. Square plan of 3 bays to E and W elevations and 5 bays to N and S elevations. Canted corners framed by paired pilasters, rising to corniced entablature which is raised above parapet level above entrance and at corners. All windows are semi-circular with radiating glazing bars set to moulded sills above recessed aprons and with triple keys rising to entablature. Entrance to N has panelled double doors set in moulded stone surround with flanking pilasters. Interior has brick-lined wells and later C20 pumping plant.
An unusually distinguished example of an industrial building in the Edwardian Baroque tradition, prominently placed in front of the similarly-styled Office Block (qv) of the former National Machine Gun Factory at Burton-on-Trent.
