Water works pumping station: engine house, pumping house and chimney. Late C19.
Snecked sandstone with pecked ashlar dressings; stone-flagged roofs. One-storey,
3-bay engine house; 2-storey, 2-bay pumping house set back at right; tall
chimney adjoining left bay of one-storey building.

Tapered chimney, about 20 metres high, has 2 top roll mouldings, the upper one
dentilled. 2 round-headed 3-light windows with transoms in building attached;
taller building at right has high, buttressed ground floor, and 3 smaller
windows above. Roofs hipped on left building and pyramidal on right building.
Segmental-headed door in left return; full-height 1-bay square projection,
possibly a stair tower, links 2 buildings at rear.

All openings have alternate-block jambs and keyed arches with voussoirs.

Included as a prominent feature in the landscape.
