Former house, now shop with workshops over. Late C17 with
C19/early C20 alterations. Coursed squared limestone; Welsh
slate roof; 2 brick stacks on rear wing.
3 storeys, attic and cellars; 3-window range. First floor has
three C19/ early C20 two-light timber mullion-and-transom
windows with coloured glass in upper lights in late C17
chamfered stone surrounds with original stone mullions and
transoms cut out and concrete cills; second floor has three
C19 two-light timber casements in similar stone surrounds.
Ground floor has one C19 three-light ovolo-moulded stone
mullion and transom window with C19 glazing, hoodmould and
stone cill. One raked dormer with window now blocked. C19
half-glazed door with 3 pointed glazed lights in chamfered
stone surround with moulded stone floating cornice. 2 openings
to cellar with C19 iron grilles. Moulded strings over ground
and first floors, that to ground floor interrupted by later
hoodmould to window; moulded timber eaves cornice.
INTERIOR has late C17 well staircase with turned balusters,
upstanding handrail and square newels with incised moulding,
from ground to second floors with later repairs to balustrade
at bottom and top; two chamfered beams, one with step-stop, to
ground floor front, rough unchamfered beams to first and
second floors; late C18 stone chimneypiece with mid C19 grate
to first floor front; 2-bay butt-purlin roof. Linked
internally to No.4 Blackjack Street, also Wendovers (qv), on
ground, first and second floors.
