Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, now two houses. C17 with late C18 and mid C19
alterations. Coursed rubble and ashlar with ashlar dressings.
Stone slate roof, a single brick and 2 stone stacks, plus a
single ashlar coped gable with kneelers. Quoins. 2 storey. South
front has off-centre doorway with half-glazed door, to the left
a C20 casement and to the right a narrow casement with beyond a
2 light casement. Above a narrow central casement flanked by 2
light casements. West front has projecting gabled wing to right
with a single former 3 light mullion window which has lost a
mullion. The side wall has a blocked doorway and a 2 light
casement above. Set back a slightly projecting corner with quoins
and a C17 4-centred arched doorway with moulded ashlar surround
and above a C20 casement. To the left a C17 blocked single light
chamfered window, a 3 light casement with a smaller 3 light
casement and door beyond. Above a 2 and 3 light casement. East
front has a slightly projecting wing to left with a 3 panel door
and to the left a pair of plain sashes with a single plain sash
beyond linked by raised lintel band. Above a similar window
arrangement. To the right a 3 light glazing bar window and above
2 tripartite sashes that to the left in a flush ashlar surround.
Beyond a lower service wing. Interior contains chamfered beams
and an extremely unusual roof structure at the south-east corner
with a type of central pendant post.
