Birchfield House

II

Dwelling. 1908. Smooth rendered, double-Roman tile roof. Lofty front with two narrow gables with decorative barge-boards, two storeys, three two light casements with glazing bars over a projecting square bay with French doors set in a verandah over a four light casement. A small square opening to basement on return wall, and here two replacement glazing bar sash. Entrance in extension, back.

Interior has stick baluster stair. This appears to have been an extension to the older dwelling, now the Child Development Centre (qv), and by virtue of its form and siting, makes a significant architectural statement by the side of a very narrow road.

This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 10 November 2016.
