A C16 timber-framed and plastered house probably built by John Langley who was
rector of Hawkedon in 1546. The house was well restored by Basil Oliver, with
windows in the old style, mullioned casements with leaded lights. 2 storeys
and attics. Roof tiled, with a tall 4-shafted chimney stack with round shafts
with moulded ornamentation and spur caps. The interior has open fireplaces with
interesting plaster work having roundels with vineleaf pattersn and traces of
colour. There is also a vertical plank panelled screen (original).
