Country house. C18 and 19. Red brick with slate roofs. Large central block
with C19 wing to East set back and C19 block to West, set back and linked to
main block by garden wall. Main block three storeys, West block 2 storeys.
South Elevation: Central block: parapet and bands at floor levels, centre
breaks forward slightly with simple stone capped pediment. 2 glazing bar
sashes on each side of central break, which has semicircular headed window
with moulded brick pilasters and surround on second floor, venetian window
with moulded brick surround on first floor and stone tuscan portico of two
columns and pilasters, pediment and triglyph frieze over glazed door with
arched radiating and curved fanlight. East wing: parapet with moulded
bracketted stone cornice. 3 glazing bar sashes. 6 panel door in arched
opening to left. West block: gable pediment with timber dentil cornice
and eaves and central occulus. 2 glazing bar sashes. Link wall has
semicircular arched headed door. B.O.E. Berkshire p.163.
