Row of cottages forming one side of courtyard. Dated 1700, with initials I.B.,
on lintel to no.2; later additions and alterations. Wet-dashed rubble.
Graduated slate roof with outshuts to rear; rendered chimneys. 2 storeys.
Part-glazed door, in architrave with dated lintel, has (inserted?) sash to each
floor on left and 3 sashes, in stone surrounds, to each floor on right; plank
door to store on far right. Richly-carved doorcase to rear, with dog-tooth and
cable decoration, made up of re-used stones very similar in style to mid C17
coping stones removed from entrance at Gosforth Hall.
