Gate lodge to country house. Dated 1908. Probably by T Frank Green, architect of Howe Combe. Flint with red brick dressings and some weatherboard, plain tile roof. L-shaped in plan, facing south with stair tower on left side and wing to rear left with outbuilding range beyond. In Arts and Crafts style with red brick bands, pilasters, window surrounds and arches; small-pane wooden casement windows. One and a half storeys, first floor windows rising under gables. Entrance elevation has wide projecting weather-boarded gable above square bay-window on right and internal porch on left, wooden posts supporting and over sailing gable, which has a 4-light window and stuccoed apex with decorative roundel dated and initialled, AHPAS. Left return of 3 bays having projecting central stair tower with chequered and brickwork incorporating small larder window below transomed 5-light stair window, all under semi-conical roof; 2-light window to either side, that on right forming side of porch; single-storey out-building range to left. Right return: 3-light window to each floor; right bay under lean-to roof has 2-light window. Rear: gabled wing has 1-light window to lean-to; some late-C20 infilling to outbuilding range. Interior: 4-panel doors with brass knobs; decorative handles to windows; in main room, wide fireplace surround with floral tiles in arched reveal; larder retains large-tiled floor and wooden shelves; dog-leg stair with diagonally-set balusters and moulded handrail; 2 decorative fireplaces to 1st floor.
